For decades, The Hungry Trout Resort has been headquarters for those wishing direct access to the many activities the Adirondacks offers…….fishing at your doorstep, skiing just seconds away at Whiteface Mountain, hiking and mountain biking on the state land adjacent to us, 8 championship golf courses within minutes, and the village of Lake Placid a scenic 15 minute drive to the south. Santa’s Workshop, America’s most beloved family fun park, is a 5 minute drive. Road biking loops from 5 to 55 miles begin at your front door, meandering through some of the most scenic vistas in the East.

Described as “Upscale and Excellent” by Ski America Magazine, The Hungry Trout Restaurant is a local legend and has provided fine dining since the 1930’s. When dusk arrives each night, the waterfalls of the adjacent Ausable River are illuminated and, coupled with the nearby Whiteface mountain range, incomparable views are yours to enjoy by candlelight.

Constructed in 1989, our R.F.McDougall’s Pub, an old-fashioned Victorian saloon, was nationally recognized recently as one of “ The Top 10 Fishing Bars in America " by Outdoor Life Magazine - June 2006. “McD’s” offers the area’s finest burgers, steaks, pasta dishes, sandwiches and ice cold drafts in a setting reminiscent of the great Manhattan pubs.
